After years of heat damage and harsh treatments, Kelly Beswick decided to embrace her natural curls — and in the process discovered a haircare brand that’s kinder to both her hair and the planet
Learning to love my natural hair again
For years, I did everything I could to tame my naturally curly hair. Straighteners, blow-dries, smoothing treatments — if there was a product promising sleek, frizz-free hair, I probably tried it. At the time, I didn’t think much about the long-term damage I was doing, both to my hair and to the environment through the endless cycle of chemical-heavy products and heat styling.
Recently, though, I decided enough was enough. I packed away the straighteners and hairdryer and committed to a complete hair detox, allowing my curls to return naturally for the first time in years. Part of that process involved finding a shampoo and conditioner that would nourish rather than strip my hair — products that were gentle, effective and environmentally responsible too.
After a fair bit of trial and error, I came across Faith in Nature, and I honestly haven’t looked back since.
Gentle on hair, kinder to the planet
What immediately appealed to me about Faith in Nature was the brand’s commitment to naturally derived ingredients and sustainable manufacturing. Their shampoos and conditioners are free from parabens and SLS/SLES, ingredients that can sometimes leave curly or damaged hair feeling dry and brittle. Instead, the formulas feel genuinely nourishing and lightweight, helping my curls regain softness and definition without weighing them down.
The products are also vegan and cruelty-free, and many are available in refill options, helping to reduce single-use plastic waste. According to the company, all bottles are made using 100 per cent recycled and recyclable plastic where possible, which feels like a meaningful step towards more sustainable bathroom routines.
What I particularly love is that the products don’t feel ‘worthy’ or overly clinical. They smell incredible, lather beautifully and feel like proper self-care products, not a compromise.

A brand that walks the walk
The more I learned about Faith in Nature, the more impressed I became. In 2022, the company became the first in the world to officially appoint Nature to its board of directors, giving the natural world a voice in company decision-making.
The initiative was designed to ensure environmental considerations are embedded into the company’s long-term business decisions, rather than treated as an afterthought. As outlined in the company’s “Nature on the Board” guide, Faith in Nature believes business needs to fundamentally rethink its relationship with the environment.
At a time when many brands make vague sustainability claims, this feels refreshingly genuine.
More than just haircare
Thanks to Faith in Nature, my curls are healthier than they’ve been in years, but perhaps more importantly, my routine now feels far more aligned with the kind of consumer I want to be. Faith in Nature has shown me that effective beauty products and environmental responsibility don’t have to be mutually exclusive — and that’s something worth supporting.
