First impressions matter

Like many people, I try to make environmentally conscious choices where I can, although I’m the first to admit there’s always room for improvement. One area I’ve paid more attention to in recent years is the cleaning products I use around the home.

I’d spotted Seep on Facebook after one of their videos appeared in my feed. Curious, I spent a little time reading about the company before deciding to give its Eco Sponge Scourers a go. I’ll be honest – I became a convert surprisingly quickly.

Considering that many traditional kitchen sponges are made using plastic materials that can shed microplastics over time, finding an alternative that avoids this felt like a worthwhile switch. Worth paying a little extra?

Initially, I wondered whether they would justify the higher price. After using one for two months, however, I found myself looking at value rather than simply cost. When spread across the year, the difference worked out at roughly £2 a month for me – a relatively small amount for a product that lasts well and aligns with my values.

Sometimes paying slightly more upfront can mean replacing products less often, and that’s exactly how these felt.

A simple swap I’d happily recommend

I’ve only tried Seep’s Eco Sponge Scourers so far, although I’m keen to explore the rest of the range.

For me, they’re one of those rare sustainable swaps that doesn’t feel like a compromise. They clean brilliantly, last impressively well and come from a company that appears genuinely committed to reducing plastic waste while building a business with purpose.
