why my dog really does love They Love It raw food

After years of trying different foods for Dexter, Kelly Beswick’s seven-year-old Border Collie-German Shepherd cross, one brand finally won him over. The clue is in the name: They Love It. For once, the marketing claim turned out to be absolutely true

The search for the right food

Finding the right food for your dog can feel like a never-ending quest. Over the years, we’ve tried all sorts with Dexter — premium kibble, fresh food subscriptions, dried and cold-pressed options. Some he enjoyed for a while, others less so, but none ever felt quite right.

Eventually, we decided to explore a raw diet. Like many owners, I was attracted by the idea of feeding something closer to what dogs would naturally eat. The challenge was finding a brand Dexter genuinely liked.

We tried several raw food options, but his response was mixed. Then we discovered They Love It.

A tail-wagging success

The difference was immediate. From the first meal, Dexter tucked in with an enthusiasm we’d rarely seen before. There was no hesitation, no sniffing and walking away. He simply ate it – and quickly.

His clear favourites are the chicken, tripe and beef blocks, and these days he’s usually waiting expectantly by the fridge long before dinner is served.

Perhaps the best compliment came recently while out on a walk. Another dog owner stopped to admire Dexter and, after taking one look at his glossy coat, said: ‘I bet he’s on a raw food diet.’

Whether that’s entirely down to the food is impossible to say, but there’s no denying that he’s looking healthy, energetic and in great condition.

The ethical appeal

One of the attractions of raw feeding is that it typically involves minimally processed ingredients, reducing the need for the intensive manufacturing associated with some highly processed pet foods. It can also offer greater transparency about exactly what is going into your dog’s bowl.

That’s something I appreciate about They Love It. Ingredients are clearly listed, recipes are straightforward and the emphasis feels firmly placed on nutrition rather than marketing gimmicks. For owners who want to make informed choices about what they feed their pets, that transparency is valuable.

Value for money

Raw feeding is often seen as expensive, but our experience with They Love It has been surprisingly positive.

The frozen blocks are easy to store, simple to portion and create very little waste. More importantly, because Dexter genuinely enjoys the food, nothing gets left behind. Anyone who has thrown away rejected dog food will know how quickly that waste adds up.

When you factor in the quality of the ingredients, Dexter’s enthusiasm and the visible results, They Love It offers good value for money.

The search for the right food took years, but it ended with a brand whose name says it all. Dexter really does love it – and that’s recommendation enough for me.
